Lately, there's been a lot of drama focusing around an online "lolita" blog that's absolutely godawful. It's full of inconsistent, incorrect information, stolen photos and uncredited reviews of events. Basically, it's a cesspit, but somehow gets huge amounts of hits. The current theory is that the owner has set up mirrors that automatically comment and view the page to boost her reputation, etc. to keep her at the top of search engines and earn her money.
She's certainly no "authority" on lolita and has pretty much been shunned by everyone with any common sense (particularly since she was idiotic enough to crash a fashion show for American designers and flounce across the stage).
Anyway! This has brought up an interesting point in the communities: lolitas want to squash her so that her influence doesn't continue to spread and misinform people. There's a current project that's starting up to get "experts" from the community to actually speak up in a group blog, in order to provide accurate and original information in an interesting format, instead of stealing photos and information from others.
I'm contemplating joining in, by looking at artwork and photography which involves lolita. It's something I'm interested in and have seen a lot of, so I think it would be a good topic for me to focus on. What with being graduated but having found only part-time employment, it also wouldn't be conflicting with any work I'm currently doing.
Anyone have thoughts or suggestions? I figure that it would be a weekly "article", with discussion of artists from around the world and perhaps a "tip" of the week for people trying to get into photographing or drawing/painting/sculpting the style.
